NSW: Rich barristers dodge tax: report
SYDNEY, Feb 26 AAP - Several Sydney barristers are abusing the tax system by not paying
their taxes or even filing returns and are using bankruptcy to expunge their debts, The
Sydney Morning Herald reported today.
A special report by the Herald claimed the lawyers continued to live in luxury by parking
their wealth in their wives' names or in family trusts to shield it from the tax man.
According to the Australian Taxation Office, 25 New South Wales barristers are bankrupt
because of income tax debts and 10 are on the brink of joining them, the paper …
